Porcelain Veneers IN MARYVILLE & FOR KNOXVILLE & ALCOA

How Durable Are Porcelain Veneers? | Changing Smiles, Changing Lives | About Emprethin Veneers

What are teeth veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility.

Placing custom teeth veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail.

Taking into consideration the desires of each individual patient, Dr. Lindahl routinely places veneers with outstanding results.

Will dental veneers look like normal teeth?

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

How durable are porcelain veneers?

With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade.

Dr. Lindahl will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available.

When I saw Dr. Lindahl’s smile transformation posts on Instagram, I just thought, wow! There were a lot of different components that made me say — this is something I want to do. I had braces three times and still didn’t have the look I wanted cosmetically, but the cosmetic aspect of it wasn’t what drove me to do this.

I had some breakdown on my front teeth from falling and chipping them as a little girl, so they had composite which just kept breaking down.

My teeth have not been holding up well as I age, and that was concerning to me, and I thought, if I’m going to have to do something down the line anyway, why not go ahead while I’m still relatively young and be able to enjoy them for the rest of my life.

The best part of the experience is knowing that my bite has been fixed so that my clenching won’t cause shifting, and the fact that teeth fit together so much better.”

Changing Smiles, Changing Lives
My Passion For Dental Veneer Smile Transformations

by Marty W. Lindahl, DDS

In my college days, veneers were not broadly taught in dental school nationwide, due to the level of difficulty, and the specialized education required to pull off success in working with world-class labs.

While pursuing my degree in dentistry at the University of Tennessee, I found myself especially curious about exploring ways to successfully execute high-quality, naturally-aesthetic veneer restorations. The internet having not yet been invented at the time, I spent countless hours pouring over research books and industry magazines to educate myself on the latest discoveries in dental science, and emerging technology in regard to the development of veneers that look lifelike.

It was a great honor to have my independent research efforts rewarded when I was selected as one of a small group of students by the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry faculty to perform a live-patient veneer transformation.

The results and insight I gained through that experience fueled my desire to pursue a future of creating options for veneers that would change my patient’s lives for the better.

From my very first patient’s experience of the “rejuvenating” effects her veneers provided; to the long-term solutions veneers created to address wear and tear, trauma due to accidents, color, crowding, old dental work, or malformed shape of natural teeth, I was hooked on the possibilities.

My first step in pursuing the art of veneers and smile design after graduating UT, was to join the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), where I began my post-graduate investigation of ways to become the best cosmetic dentist I could be.

Through the following years, I have committed significant time and resources to continuing education through many of the well-known institutes where I have had the pleasure of connecting with mentors including Dr. David Hornbrook; a well known  “pioneer” in the field of cosmetic dentistry.

Attending the Hornbrook Group, allowed me to glean in-depth insight on occlusion. Afterward, I applied what I learned during the hands-on course for implementing the highly-esteemed Hornbrook techniques.

Having witnessed the success of my patient cases at the time, my office manager Missie approached me about transforming her smile, using the techniques I had learned.

Intent on utilizing the most advanced team at the time to benchmark the best possible outcome for Missie, I partnered with Dr. Jason Olitsky, also known as the “smile stylist” in Jacksonville, FL, to execute the smile Missie had expressed she had always dreamed of.

My hands-on experience performing Missie’s smile transformation with Dr. Olitsky taught me a lot more than I could ever have learned from a class or course about veneers and cosmetic dentistry. The experience showcased how to work with a team to champion an aesthetic and functionally-lasting restoration that the patient is truly transformed by.

Alongside Dr. David Hornbrook, and Dr. Jason Olitsky, I also had the pleasure of working with the world-renown, Gold Dust Labs, Inc., to provide the most beautiful ceramics I had seen to date.

The results were truly astonishing. Missie’s smile became the well-functioning and beautiful smile that 12 years later, still looks incredible, and Missie hasn’t experienced a single problem with her veneers, to date.

Following that career-changing course, I have pursued several progressive changes in my practice to revolutionize the art and science of veneers.

One such technique I have carefully evolved in response to my patients fear of having their natural teeth drilled down to nubs in order to place the veneer, is my “no prep” veneer protocol. To execute this solution, I work with a product called Emprethin™.

Emprethin™ is a beautiful, and once-bonded, incredibly strong, top-of-the-line solution I consider a privilege to be able to offer my patients. Emprethin™ are so thin (0.3mm), they are almost transparent. As such, we have to exercise incredible care for this extremely fragile product until it is bonded to the tooth.

The idea of little to no prep is exciting because it conserves natural tooth structure; thereby creating a stronger bond to the enamel. Not every patient is a candidate for this type of procedure, however, whenever I can, I utilize this concept, partnering with the top labs to always provide the most natural-looking result on the market to every patient in my care. Not only that, this cutting-edge, veneer application doesn’t require much chair time to perform, so it’s a win-win, all around.

When I am communicating with the patient who is looking to either “enhance” or “make over” their smile, my goal is to share with them all options at their disposal that will achieve the result they are hoping for, and will not leave them with any regrets.

To accomplish their transformation together, I truly feel it is important to listen to each patient’s desires by advocating for their ability to choose the exact treatment that is best for their smile and overall well being.

Some patients are more focused on the “cosmetic”, which can sometimes translate as unnatural (exp: extreme white); while some hope for a more “esthetic” approach that won’t be as immediately noticeable, while still ultimately appealing.

My goal is to transform my patients’ smile in a way that others may not be able to tell at a glance exactly what my patient has changed; while overall, their natural appearance is enhanced significantly in a way that makes my patient feel better about themselves and their confidence as a result of the procedure.

Over the years, my heart for my patients has expanded as I have witnessed their before and after changes often resemble a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. These patients gain confidence they never had before, in a way that transforms their lives at work and home.

It’s thrilling for me to hear my patients share with me how their transformations have prompted promotions at work, getting asked on more dates, and many opportunities to be more social with others, since they are happier to smile more, and show off more of their inner personality.

On top of these exciting changes, my patients also tell me how much more comfortable their mouth feels because it functions better. Even for patients who had experienced TMD, their smile after the restoration not only looks better, but it will last longer than it would have if they hadn’t undergone the revitalization and would have continued to experience the wearing effects of TMJ and grinding down their natural occlusion.

Whether a patient is interested in 2 to 4 veneers, or a full-mouth rehabilitation; I’m passionate about providing an esthetic result that will last.

The transformations my patients experience mean the world to me. Operating as a smaller private practice allows me to advocate for my patient’s objectives in a way that lets me focus on their needs and treat them as VIPs, instead of going through some less-than-desirable protocols larger practices must adhere to.

As a boutique-size practice with a high-level of productivity, my team and I have the ability to provide our patients with the advantage of 100% individual attention and the highest-level of comfort and privacy.

Many dental practices provide veneers; but very few have the hands-on track record of experience, lab partnership, and strategic alliances that my team and I have cultivated to provide our patients with only the latest in cutting-edge, dental veneer best practices.

My team and I do our utmost to support each other and our patients via post-graduate training, team accountability, and a consistent allegiance to aesthetic function that lowers the risk for patient dissatisfaction.

In order to provide total smile transformations that give my patients access to multiple benefits in one visit; I now partner with Allergan/Brilliant Distinctions. Oftentimes, when the structure of the teeth have been transformed; I have been asked to provide the finishing touch of polishing the “frame” of my patient’s smiles with the undetectable enhancement of dermal fillers.

For the past decade, I have utilized non-surgical fillers and Botox to correct issues such as “gummy smiles”, indistinctive cupid bows, thin-parsed lips, frown lines, and more. We now offer our patients access to the Brilliant Distinctions membership, in order to maximize their benefits when it comes to putting their best features forward in a way that saves them time and resources.

About Emprethin Veneers
Emprethin™ are similar to porcelain veneers but offer patients a no-preparation (no drilling, no grinding) option for applying these ultra-thin veneers to the teeth. Both products are porcelain veneers ultra-thin shells of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of the teeth. Not all patients are candidates for the no preparation option. Size, shape, and alignment of your teeth will dictate the outcome of this method.

Your best results may be obtained with a stronger all-porcelain veneer and preparing the existing teeth for a little thicker, and more durable veneer.

Emprethin™ are the latest ultra-thin veneer and are a pressed ceramic that can be fabricated at approximately 0.2 mm – 0.3 mm, transforming teeth into a naturally beautiful smile that looks perfect for every individual.

What are the benefits of Emprethin™ veneers?
They can fix stained, crooked, chipped, and an unevenly spaced smile. Emprethin™ offer a painless way to permanently whiten and align your smile. They are advertised as painless because these types of veneers require minimal or no preparation of your teeth to bond. Because there is no-preparation, the process is also faster than a conventional veneer procedure.

What concerns should I have about veneers?
Emprethin™ veneers are not designed to withstand excessive force. Habits like nail-biting and ice chewing can damage the veneer over time.

How much do veneers cost?
The answer is tailored to each individual patient. The ceramic veneer is one part of the treatment preparation. The number of teeth and any required supporting dental work to prepare the veneers to last and look their best need to be considered. Dr. Lindahl and our treatment coordinator have a great offering of financing resources to share with you in supporting your best options. Once we’ve discussed your desires with you, we will provide you with a cost estimate after examining your teeth and deciding with you the best route to meet your needs.

What other porcelain veneer options are available for me?
We offer several options for porcelain veneers and where strength is required.

Dr. Lindahl will help you decide which system is the most appropriate to achieve your goals.
